   Second World War has sold for =A394,000
- Device, still in its original condition, was built in 1943 and seized
   by Allies before it could be destroyed by Germans
- They are hard to come by as majority of them were destroyed as Allies
   swept through Europe in final months of war
- Machine eventually cracked by Alan Turing and his team of
   code-breakers at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire

A fully-functioning enigma machine used by the Nazis to send coded
messages during the Second World War has sold for almost =A3100,000.

The device, in complete original condition, was built in 1943 and seized
by the Allies before it could be destroyed by the Germans.

It is believed to have been used by Axis powers in Belgium and the
Netherlands during the final two years of the war.

The machines are hard to come by as the majority of them were destroyed
as the Allies swept through Europe in the final months of the war.

It is believed of the 100,000 that were made only 4,000 exist today....
