Just in case readers may deduce that 'Winston Churchill=E2=80=99s Toyshop' =
was
in Bedfordshire, I hasten to mention that it was at The Firs in
Whitchurch, Buckinghamshire. A few years ago I owned a house built in
what was part of the Firs  grounds, and my garden included the remains
of a large hydraulic lift!

There is much information in a book entitled 'Winston Churchill=E2=80=99s
Toyshop' by Macrae published in 1971.
Also, the recently published " Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare"
(Giles Milton)   has many references
to the 'Toyshop'.  I have come across no evidence of links to BP.
