Off-topic postings

We have been discussing, in another thread, things being 'off topic'. Is
anyone able to explain to me why this posting appears under the "obituary
- Peter Twinn" subject heading..?

Is the author responsible [by posting as a reply within the earlier thread]
or is gmane at fault in some way..?
