Just about sums this bl@@dy country up, doesn't it! Run an institution into 
the ground and then complain when it looses money.

I was trying to think of an equivalent U.S. institution but couldn't (not 
that I am a great admirer of the U.S. in other circumstances) but could one 
imagine them closing down an equivalent historic site because of "trading 
losses"?
