Queen pays tribute to Bletchley's codebreaker heroes
----------------------------------------------------

The Queen offers her "heartfelt thanks on behalf of an eternally grateful
nation" to the Second World War codebreakers who worked at Blecthley Park.
More than 9,000 staff worked at the secret government base where the
German Enigma codes were cracked.

The Queen said it was impossible to overstate the "deep sense of
admiration, gratitude and national debt" owed to such a "remarkable group
of people".

During her visit to Bletchley Park she unveiled a memorial in remembrance
of the codebreakers who have died. Many surviving staff were also present
for the tribute.

Many historians believe that the work of the codebreakers shortened the
duration of the Second World War by as much as two years.
