FYI...: UCL Provost's Newsletter - 19 September 2011 From: Malcolm Grant, UCL ---------------------------------------- I am grateful to Prof Susanne Kord, UCL German, for the following update on UCL alumnus Captain Jerry Roberts, who played a major part in code-breaking at Bletchley Park in the Second World War, a topic he spoke about at UCL in March 2009. On 15 July this year Jerry was one of a small group of surviving veterans honoured by Her Majesty the Queen at Bletchley Park. He's had and will continue to have opportunities to tell his story on the BBC; he was on their breakfast show on 14 July; a 1-hour documentary entitled 'Codebreakers', which will, in part, feature Jerry's work, will air on BBC-2 TV on 2 October. He's still quite active, dealing with the press attention with grace and aplomb, and ( at now 90 ) half-way done with his memoirs, which I'm sure will be well received once he publishes them.... http://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/news-articles/0811/08112602 http://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/news-articles/0903/09031601
