My father became a close friend of Bill Tutte, who returned to Newmarket briefly in 1995 after his wife had died in Canada. Very fortunately, I at that time managed to trace him via the internet and his Waterlooville Canada address, and I visited him while he was staying with his niece in Newmarket. He assured me that he and my father had shared an office throughout the war, located in the main building (room 9 I believe). Possibly Jerry Roberts, who was not in Travis's Research section, but in the Testery, had shared with Tutte before my father arrived at Bletchley in 1942. It was Tutte who was able to confirm for me that my father was indeed the author of the "Cryptographic Dictionary". Tutte mentioned my father among his memories, as quoted in Appendix 4 of Jack Copeland's Colossus book.
Unfortunately, my father was killed in a motor accident in 1971, so his history at Bletchley was never recorded.
