Bletchley Park wartime hut restored by donation

A wartime hut which housed the first Enigma code-breaking machine at 
Bletchley Park has been restored thanks to a £250,000 legacy from a 
former worker.

The prefab building held a team of mathematicians who used 
electro-mechanical Bombe machines to intercepted German military orders.

It has been restored thanks to a donation from former temporary clerical 
worker Maureen Jones, 87, who died last year.

Ms Jones started as a worker at Hut 11 during the Second World War, aged 
18.

She stayed on afterwards with GCHQ and by the time she retired she had 
progressed to the respected position of senior principal.

It was a rare achievement for a woman at the time and she was appointed 
OBE in 1985 for her outstanding work during the Falklands
