il=0D=0Alocalities. This poorly-sampled interval is nonetheless important b=
ecause=0D=0Ait is thought to include a possible mass extinction, the origin=
 of orogenic=0D=0Acontrols on dinosaur spatial distribution, and the origin=
 of important=0D=0AUpper Cretaceous dinosaur taxa. Therefore, dinosaur-bear=
ing rocks from this=0D=0Ainterval are of particular interest to vertebrate =
palaeontologists. In this=0D=0Astudy, we report on one such locality from H=
ighwood Pass, Alberta. This=0D=0Alocality has yielded a multitaxic assembla=
ge, with the most diagnostic=0D=0Amaterial identified so far including anky=
losaurian osteoderms and a turtle=0D=0Aplastron element. The fossil horizon=
 lies within the upper part of the=0D=0APocaterra Creek Member (PCM) of the=
 Cadomin Formation (Blairmore Group).=0D=0AThe fossils are assigned as Berr=
iasian (earliest Cretaceous) in age, based=0D=0Aon previous palynomorph ana=
lyses of the PCM and underlying and overlying=0D=0Astrata. The fossils lie =
within numerous cross-bedded sandstone beds=0D=0Aseparated by pebble lenses=
. These sediments are indicative of a relatively=0D=0Ahigh-energy depositio=
nal environment, and the distribution of these fossils=0D=0Aover multiple b=
eds indicates that they accumulated over multiple events,=0D=0Apossibly fla=
sh floods. The fossils exhibit a range of surface weathering,=0D=0Ahaving i=
ntact-to-heavily-weathered cortices. The presence of definitive=0D=0Adinosa=

ing ankylosaurian osteoderms and a turtle plastron element. The fossil hori=
zon lies within the upper part of the Pocaterra Creek Member (PCM) of the C=
adomin Formation (Blairmore Group). The fossils are assigned as Berriasian =
(earliest Cretaceous) in age, based on previous palynomorph analyses of the=
 PCM and underlying and overlying strata. The fossils lie within numerous c=
ross-bedded sandstone beds separated by pebble lenses. These sediments are =
indicative of a relatively high-energy depositional environment, and the di=
stribution of these fossils over multiple beds indicates that they accumula=
ted over multiple events, possibly flash floods. The fossils exhibit a rang=
e of surface weathering, having intact-to-heavily-weathered cortices. The p=
resence of definitive dinosaur material from near the Jurassic-Cretaceous b=
oundary of Alberta establishes the oldest record of dinosaur body fossils i=
n western Canada and provides a unique opportunity to study the Early Creta=
