There are two possible orientations, upward and downward, for the
parascapular spines of *Gigantspinosaurus* and *Yingshanosaurus.* Both have
spines with large, flattened bases. It seems most likely that the base lay
flat across the scapula, with the spine itself pointing either up or down.
