I can't work out your reasoning in order to find the flaw. Both Paulie and Larry are avatars of Mr Carnivore. Mr Polar Bear is certainly a subkind of Mr Carnivore, but I would be inclined to say that he isn't an avatar of Mr C, though all avatars of Mr PB are avatars of Mr C. Anyway, while I accept that seeing Paulie and Larry can count as seeing the same thing (viz Mr C), I don't accept that it follows that seeing Paulie counts as seeing a polar bear (or Mr PB). --And.
