It's probably the most ancient equitation book after Xenophons, written by King Dom Duarte. I posted a call for some help into the "esplanada" of pt.source, but I didn't got so far a reply. So I'm looking here, into a larger community, a willing user interested both into *horsemanship* and *into ancient portuguese language & history*, just to have some general suggestion and some brief comment about my difficult work. If you like, take a look here: http://pt.wikisource.org/wiki/Galeria:Bem_cavalgar.djvu You'll find two different styles of transcription, the first one used into pages from 7 to 38, the second one (my style) into pages from 39 to 44. I'll use your suggestions for the second book of Dom Duarte too, "O leal consilheiro", which is ready and waiting into Commons. Thanks! -- Alex -------------- próxima parte ---------- Um anexo em HTML foi limpo... That is very impressive work, indeed. I am afraid that I not familiar with editing in Wikisource, and don't know if its community is large, but if you like you can post an announcement on the pt-Wikipedia Esplanada. http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Esplanada/geral and attract more editors (the mailing list is not very active). I can provide a translation into portuguese there. What kind of suggestions/comments are you looking for? I notice that your OCR text has some difficulties with the ancient portuguese diacritics, but I have no idea how to fix that. Best of luck! 2010/2/1 Alex Brollo <[email protected]> > Hi all, I'm an Italian user of wikisource, unluckily I can't speak > portuguese... nevertheless I'm very boldly publishing into pt.source an > ancient, XV Century book. > > It's probably the most ancient equitation book after Xenophons, written by > King Dom Duarte. I just rendered an ancient Italian work, and I found the same "diacritics" that really are "tituli", t.i. Middle Age common abbreviations. But... are they *all* tituli or are some of them real diacritics? My shortcut has been, to consider all "tituli", implying that - as normally works in paleography - they can be solved converting them into a n or a m following the vocal with them; but... how many mistake I did? No matter, I know that there's no one wiki user that can do the "perfect work", someone will fix my mistakes... I only hope that they are not too many. :-( Well, I'll post the question into pt.wikipedia, as you suggested; thanks again. Alex -------------- próxima parte ---------- Um anexo em HTML foi limpo... You might find some information on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reforms_of_Portuguese_orthography although it seems to be more centered at the reforms during the 20th century. 2010/2/1 Alex Brollo <[email protected]> > > > 2010/2/1 GoEthe.wiki <[email protected]> > >> Hi Alex. >> >> What kind of suggestions/comments are you looking for?
