ADFOCS is a five-day summer school hosted annually by MPI-Informatics in
Saarbrücken, Germany. This year's edition, on August 10–14, will address
the following question:

*What foundational theoretical knowledge should a machine learning
researcher have?*

We hope this summer school will be of particular interest in light of
recent progress in employing LLMs to obtain groundbreaking research results.

This year's speakers are leading experts in theoretical computer science
and machine learning theory:

  * *Kasper Green Larsen* (Aarhus University) — Theoretical Foundations
    of Machine Learning
  * *Ankur Moitra* (MIT / IAS) — Theory for Large Language Models?
  * *David Woodruff* (CMU / Google) — Using CS Theory Research for
Machine Learning, and Using Machine Learning for CS Theory Research

The school is aimed at early-career researchers, including masters/Ph.D.
students and postdocs. It is also suitable for attendees with no prior
background in machine learning.

The program will also include a poster session and other opportunities
for networking and discussion.

Early registration closes July 5th. The deadline for travel grant
applications is July 1st.
