Applications are open for a Hot Topic workshop at the Institute for Computational and Experimental Mathematics (ICERM) in Providence, RI, USA. December 11-13 2026 Applications: https://icerm.brown.edu/program/hot_topics_workshop/htw-26-aia The workshop will run from December 11th to 13th and provide a hands-on introduction to AI-assisted coding for Mathematical Exploration. No prior experience with coding or AI is required! We will explore how large language models (LLMs) and other AI tools can empower mathematicians to rapidly prototype, visualize, and analyze mathematical concepts through custom-built applications. Participants will gain hands-on experience in leveraging AI to create interactive tools for their research; successful examples include simulations of periodic cellular automata, statistical analyses of random percolations, and explorations of geometric and topological structures. The workshop will begin with a showcase of existing AI-assisted applications, followed by sessions on the fundamentals of LLM-based coding, real-time demonstrations of app development, and discussions on the ethical implications of AI in mathematical research. Advanced topics, such as custom skill development and parallel agent management will also be covered as time permits. The workshop will culminate in a showcase of participant-created apps, highlighting the immediate practical impact of AI-assisted coding in mathematical exploration.
