The second edition Italian Free Software Conference call for paper is
open.

Aims
The main aim of The Italian Conference on Free Software is that of
considering the state of the art on Free Software in Italy.

This is the second edition of the Conference, that was first held in
Cosenza in 2007. Coherently with the previous edition, the focus of the
Conference is on the involvement and coming together of people  actively
interested in research about Free Software, in Free Software
development, and in the promotion and spread of Free Software. All the
tematic areas related to Free Software are considered relevant, ranging
from ecomic aspects to law, from technical to ethical, social and
phisolophical subjects.

The Conference will be held on May 16th and 17th, 2008. Different types
of sessions and events are planned, in order to have entrerprises,
public organizations, universities, research centers, developers,
citizens, and passionates knowing each other and start working together.


Topics
Authors are called upon submitting scientific contributions dealing with
the study of Free Software, its application in research, and
contributions to Free Software projects. Both theoretical/academical
works, and more empirical researchs are welcome.

The following is a non-esclusive list of topics of interest:
      * free Software and Public Administration, in enterprises,
        citizens-oriented;
      * open Science e "Open Knowledge";
      * licenses, patents and copyright;
      * free Software-related social anche cultural dynamics;
      * usability, Scalability, and maintanance of Free Software;
      * tools and Infrastructure for the development of Free Software;
      * techniques, Architectures and patterns the development of Free
        Software;
      * costs, Value, Business model and strategies for Free Software;
      * cases of employment of Free Software in health, e-government,
        school and education.

Papers dealing with every kind of knowledge, being they strongly focused
on Free Software  Free Software will be considered as well

 

Call for Workshop
Also Workshop Proposals are encouraged. These are supposed to deal with
specific sub-themes related to Free Software. Since Workshops are mainly
aimed at debate and open discussions, emerging themes and open debates
related to Free Software are expected to be particularty fitting to this
formula.
Workshops will be half-day lasting.

      * Abstract submission: March, 14th 2008
        
      * Notification and publication of accepted talks: March, 21st 2008
        
      * Paper submission: April, 14th 2008
        
      * Deadline Call for Workshops: May, 14th 2008
      * Notification and publication of accepted Workshops:  March, 21st
        2008
        
      * Registration deadline (reduced fee): March, 31st 2008
      * Registration deadline (standard fee): April, 30th 2008
      * Registration fees after April,30th 2008 will be increased

 


Guidelines for submission:
Authors are invited to submit original research papers. The official
language of the Conference is Italian, but paper in English are accepted
as well.

Abstracts should not exceed one-page lenght, while full papers must be
between 3000 and 4000 words, including references.

Accepted articles will be published in the Conference Proceedings ("Atti
della Conferenza")

In writing the paper, authors are encouraged to avail themselves of the
conference Template. Only papers conforming to the Template will be
included in the proceedings.
