fyi -------- Original Message -------- Subject: foss applications book Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 10:16:32 -0800 From: Michael Dean <[email protected]> To: Karim R. Lakhani <[email protected]> I am currently working on a book that will present "best practices' open source software in the areas of business and commerce, or nonprofit organizations, and the impact of such software on overall organizational productivity after adaptation. We are not concentrating on open source server systems software, like FreeBSD or Linux, nor on the "backoffice" apps such as Apache, PostgresQL, etc.but rather on the customer touchpoint and internal applications that small businesses can deploy to increase their productivity and position in the global marketplace, such as CRM/ERP, social networking, collaboration and the like. A chapter on security issues has been completed. I invite any researcher or knowledgeable persons to submit drafts or outlines of chapters or portions of chapters. For convenience we are using OpenOffice or MSWord along with O'Reilly's book template for ease of integration. I would appreciate any publicity within the research community you can extend to me.
