Dear All,
We are happy to inform you that orocos@kth version 0.8 has been released
today. It has now reached a state where it is usable. It can be
downloaded as a tarball from the project website at
http://cogvis.nada.kth.se/orocos/ (though cvs is still the preferred
method of retrieval).

The API for the basic component framework and the communication patterns
are now in a pretty stable state. The distribution contains some sample
behaviors and a base-server that runs on the Nomadics Scout platform.
The Nomadics NServer simulator is of course also supported.

Since the system contains a hardware abstraction layer, other platforms
can quite easily be supported. Upon request, we can provide support for
PeopleBot, Nomad200 and XR4000.

Documentation is still sparse, but please do not hesitate to email the
authors if you have questions. Check back on the site for updates.

During the spring, we expect a large number of components to be
available as the system gets used in other projects here at kth and
elsewhere.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Pablo d'Angelo and
Patric Jensfelt for their hard work on the software.
