Dear colleagues,

There have been some presentations on this mailing list of software
frameworks for the programming of robots, and a consortium issued from
the discussion, which is now fixed. However, we thought that it might be
interesting to inform you about the existence of ORCCAD (Open Robot
Controller CAD), a programming environment which has the particularity
of concerning the encapsulation of control laws into control tasks, and
their sequencing at a discrete-event level. 

As such, it seems complementary to what is proposed here, in the sense
that it targets more the real-time and event-based aspects, controlling
the continuous control tasks, rather than the latter themselves. Maybe
it could be envisionned as a perspective of the present work program, to
consider this additional layer.

Orccad includes a design framework where different levels of design
(control algorithms, libraries of tasks, definition of missions using
these tasks) are accessible to different types of users, with different
goals and competences.

The discrete event aspects are handled using the synchronous languages
and tools for analysis, compilation, verification, and code generation.
