On <http://www.orocos.org/kinematics.html> you find a spin-off project
of Orocos, that focuses exclusively on kinematics and dynamics of
robots, machine tools and computer animated creatures.
The goal is to unite the forces and developments over different
communities that have the same kinematics needs.

Let's see whether we can get this started...

A good beginning could be that all interested people just send their
wish list(s), such that we get an idea of what is the current target
public. Also links to existing code or good examples are useful. There
is already a short section with some of these things on the webpage.
A separate mailing list has been set up for this Kinematics project,
 <http://mail.mech.kuleuven.ac.be/mailman/listinfo/orocos-kindyn>
in order not to force non-Orocos people to receive all other Orocos
posts they are not interested in. (Some of you may still be on this
list from its inception about two years ago :-)
