Category: stage Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Emi Mathews (emimathews) Assigned to: Richard Vaughan (rtv) Summary: Ranger not detecting small obstacles Initial Comment: Hello, I have a small problem with the ranger. As shown in the screenshot I have two types of robots. One small type and another bigger type, both having similar ranger configurations (max range .7 and min range 0, fov 30 deg etc). The bigger robots ranger cannot detect the small one even if it completely blocks one of the sensors of the ranger (in figure it blocks the sensor 1). If I place a big obstacle instead, the sensors detect. Even if the field of view is 30 degree the sensors detect obstacle only if the middle ray is blocked. But the main problem is that the blocking obstacle should have a size comparable to the robot for detection. I checked the z coordinate of the obstacle and the robot and both are in the same plane. What could be a solution for this problem ? I'm using the latest stage 4.0.1 version.
