Minutes of ERPS General Meeting #298 04 April 2006 The President called the meeting to order at 8:20 PM. Members present were David Masten, Gerry Nordley, Julie Porter, Dan Solvin, Michael Wallis, David Weinshenker and Chris Winter. Reports and discussion on agenda items were as follows: DOCUMENTATION ------------- Chris Winter Nothing to report INFOTECH -------- Sean Lynch Michael reported that the transfer of ERPS' domain away from Network Solutions is in progress. LIAISONS -------- Michael Wallis AST meetings will be held in May in Washington, DC. PUBLIC AFFAIRS -------------- Michael Wallis Virgin Galactic has hired its first pilot. Test flights of SpaceShipTwo may take place late in 2006 or early 2007. Spacex had their first launch. It ended 100 feet above the pad when a valve refused to open. The company says they got good data on the problem and will press onward. TREASURER --------- Rick Eversole The treasurer has resigned effective immediately. The status of our bank account is: still in the black. CHIEF SCIENTIST --------------- Kevin Bollinger Nothing to report FLIGHT CONTROLS --------------- Dave Masten Nothing to report PROPELLANTS/SPARGER/FF ---------------------- Pierce Nichols Dave W reported that the peroxide project is making slow progress. He is working on a weld-free, cleanable evaporative concentrator. REGULATORY AFFAIRS ------- Dave Weinshenker Nothing to report SAFETY ------ Dave Masten Safety is AOK. TESTING ------- Dave Masten There was discussion on replacing the launch rail, which was damaged beyond economical repair when a guy wire broke during the KISS 3 launch. A longer launch rail is needed in any case for future launches. **** PROJECTS Composites ---------- Kevin Bollinger Nothing to report Gizmocopter ----------- Sean Lynch Nothing to report KISS ---- Dan Solvin Nothing to report POGO ---- Dave Masten Nothing to report SMARTFLIGHT ----------- Dave Weinshenker Nothing to report Spike ----- Sean Lynch Nothing to report NEW BUSINESS ============ Joyce reported that the cleaning fund for Unit 23 is paid up. Chris reported a possible meeting place should we decide to hold dinner meetings again. It is the conference room at the Carl's Jr. near Oakmead Parkway and Lawrence Expressway.
