Yes....that's about how I see it.....

I see ethics as the fine tunings of existence in a spiritual universe. I
see the spiritual laws of the
universe just as real as the physical laws of the universe ....whether
someone is aware of them or
not, we all are living by them. In fact, I consider physical laws
a reflection of spiritual laws....the physical world is something spiritual
beings mocked up and
is here by our agreement....not just cultures and societies...but the entire
planet.

If only folks would mind these two basics (both of which exist thruout world
religions and
cultures) we'd have a whole lot less discussion.

We know them best as....

The Golden Rule:
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Probably just an expansion of the above...and a law:

You reap what you sow (karma).

What is any system put into organized thought and then put onto paper?!

I like the Prout idea of a Collective Body of spiritually minded, aka
watchdogs and whistleblowers, in
existence to keep those that are running things (leaders) in line with goals
that are for the betterment of
society. They do not run things themselves (takes out that ego issue that
someone mentioned) they merely
expose any shenanigans that might come up. Imagine that! They are
also elected....in case of corruption
within the Body itself.

The way they get started in a cultural base is the same as with all
movements....pockets and enclaves of
people seeing the value in such a system. They are already in existence.
And, as previously mentioned.
I see ecovillage thinking as being similiar. It is still that spiritual
law/physical law theory of 'we live by them with
or without the knowledge of them'. They will naturally emerge in various
systems of thought....I suppose it
is personal preference as to how you like to see them on paper.
