To those interested in transforming our society rather than taking the
non-choice of abandoning it, or letting it just become more unmanagable,
unsustainable, and simply just unjust.

It looks like Allen, Vince, and I are already on [email protected]

Most of the solutions that are needed are most likely to be solved through
the synergy of a larger diverse group. Frequently a dialog between a
couple people will trigger an idea in somebody else, and then somebody
else will volunteer a valuable contact, and pretty soon a solution will
take shape that wouldn't ever have happened if the dialog had a limited
audience.

An email list is a kind of community, and it does take some work to build
and sustain that. However, since an interest in community is why we are
communicating in the first place, I feel it is important to learn how to
make a larger list work well, and gain all the advantages of the larger
community.

I'm on a few lists where there are hundreds of members, and they have some
heated dialog and still work smoothly, so it can be done with deft
moderation. Respect for each other on a list is a key element on these
lists. This starts out with not dumping on each other. Another form of
respect is to use informative message subjects so people can quickly
choose what is pertinent to their life, so they can spend their time
wisely. Along with this is keeping the chit-chat to a minimum so what is
shared is a contribution to the goal of the list, which usually isn't
socializing.

[email protected] isn't a high volume list. It has 112 members and
15-30 emails a month. This looks like a good list for discussions like
this from this perspective and it looks like the content supports the
goals of the list too.

In addition, these dialogs would add valuable energy to the list.

So all in all, it looks like a great idea to move the dialog to
[email protected]

May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter,
Roger
