many people idealize consensus, but are not really ready for the levels of
responsibility and trust it requires to succeed....so, many attempts will
fail in early or beginning stages....just like it says in bible, (no i am
not a jesus freak really, but like the quote) "many are called but few are
choosen" ( actually i prefer rather "but few make the choice to better fit
this new age").....

one suggestion in larger eco-village situations is to decentralize consensus
into several linked supportive neighborhood councils or pods of twelve or
less within the larger eco-village, they could then support and link with
the other smaller pods or groups in the eco-village by sending rotating
representatives to a larger eco-village consensus council of twevle or less
that met less regularly for matters that involved the whole village....

for the consensus purists like me out there, before final adoptions of
agreements by this eco-village council, the representative could then go
back to his neighborhood council and discuss and try and reach consensus in
the smaller neighborhood groups before total adoption of agreement/s as a
whole village is made....

or if trust was special already, we could trust the representative to
represent the smaller neighborhood councils consensus and make his vote
final at the eco-village council right away....

something along those lines anyway, never got to eco-village too much yet,
reaching high trust levels of consensus with just a mate is quite a
challenge in itself, eh????.... :-)

 start with two it seems and slowly slowly add one or two more to develop
the higher trust levels that i feel are required for more formal type
consensus to succeed....imh-bs formalized/organized/refined consensus is a
spiritual evolving group mind experience/experiment that we have really only
scratched the surface of, it can be refined to very interesting stituations
and phenomena among high trust cooperative groups methinks/feels.....

i am quite wary at this stage of life experience, but still passionate to
succeed one of these lifetimes or another.... :-) ok, enough ramblin from
