Hmm, I guess there could be a setbuf like call for name, that only set
the name of the node... I'm not sure exactly how that would work
(normally it wouldn't make much sense if you were setting Foo.Bar.Baz,
since it gets split into three strings)
Having a setbuf where the hdf doesn't take ownership wouldn't be hard
either.
I'm open to patches.
