undefined symbol: hdf_init

I'm trying to run a Perl script (ezmlm-web) that makes use of ClearSilver under Perl 5.8.8 on 
a Fedora Core 7 platform. When I call the script, Perl errors out, reporting:

    /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-  
    multi/auto/ClearSilver/ClearSilver.so: undefined symbol: hdf_init

I see from the archives that someone had previously reported this on an FC4 machine. Did 
anyone ever find a fix for this problem?
