I used mingw as well. And I think that I used the msys terminal to compile on a Win2003 machine. I remember making a changes in the code like sleep() to Sleep(). (I believe this is fixed now, so it should just compile)

I'm using Clearsilver-C and the Perl port for pretty complicated stuff, so far the clearsilver.net documentation has been the only reference I needed. For fastcgi setup I remember seeing a few good posts in the mailing list.
