If you're displaying the date using <?cs var:date ?> as you say, then it's
populated with the date already in that format. You can use the
string.slice function to pull out the various parts of the date, easiest if
it's always fixed length as you say.
Ie, <?cs var:string.slice(date, 5, 6) + "/" + string.slice(date, 8, 9) +
"/" + string.slice(date, 0, 3) ?>
