Looks like a missing font problem at first glance. If you don=E2=80=99t have
=E2=80=9CariesSCB=E2=80=9D then you=E2=80=99re only getting characters from=
 Symbol and Zapf
Dingbats.

Symbol contains =E2=80=9C9=E2=80=9D, =E2=80=9C.=E2=80=9D, and =E2=80=9C!=E2=
=80=9D in the expected places[1]. I guess
modern systems =E2=80=9Cknow=E2=80=9D what Unicode characters are in a font=
 and you
don=E2=80=99t get =E2=89=85 or =E2=9C=A0 for =E2=80=9CA=E2=80=9D because ne=
ither of those is an =E2=80=9CA=E2=80=9D even though
it=E2=80=99s ostensibly at code point 0x41 in Symbol and Zapf Dingbats,
respectively.
