I think this is definitely the worst approach, and I would recommend
against this method for any long-term documents. I suspect that it is
only appropriate if you want to completely delete the contents of our
existing template. The worst aspect of the approach is that it is
neither forwards-compatible nor backwards-compatible with DB2LaTeX
releases. You essentially have to remember to manually compare
book-article.mod.xsl with your customisation layer each time DB2LaTeX
changes.
