Problem with "oe" ligature

Hello list,
When I put an "oe" ligature (Unicode U+0153) in my Docbook document, it
comes out in the LaTeX file as "&#339;". All other letters, including
letters comporting diacritic signs and the "ae" ligature come out fine.

Is this related to db2latex (and if so, how to fix it) or to my XSL
processor (xsltproc) ?

Document encoding : utf-8
db2latex version : 0.8pre1
