I see. So you want to implement the pure-XSLT solution? 
I mean, I probably would get around to it if you don't, but I just don't know 
when that will happen. 

You don't really need to know much Texinfo for this,
just the whitespace, paragraph-breaking rules and the obvious one-one mappings 
like <chapter> (in Texi-XML) -> @chapter, <node> -> @node, and so forth.

I will be looking at converting the XSLT stylesheets to use xsl:fallback, as 
you suggested. It is a good idea anyway, it makes testing with SAXON and 
standard xsltproc much easier.
