Yeah, but that’s the problem for most people who would like to hack on docutils. I am following this thread with some level of dread, because these are exactly operations I will probably need if I am thinking about writing that rst2epub. And frankly this thread does not increase my faith in my own ability to write such script (if I had the time to do so, that is). I will certainly study your attached example.
