Hi David, thanks for analyzing this weird problem. Will you follow up on this on the XML mailing list? As I can't reproduce this problem here, I don't want to report it myself as I couldn't run any suggested debug tests. I'd be happy though to help writing a description of the problem. In any case, DocBook and xsltproc are a likely combination for building the documentation of an autotools-based software.
