Thanks for the debug info. I don't see any particular clue from this info
though. The mysql driver appears to be loaded correctly, and you're able to
connect to the database for sure (you'd get different error messages
otherwise). So could it be that the main database *IS* too old? I don't recall
whether you created the main database yourself or whether the package
installation script does this for you. Does it make a difference whether you do
a fresh install or whether you upgrade? In any case, could you please send me a
dump of your MySQL refdb database? Run something like

mysqldump -u username -p refdb > dump.sql

to capture the database contents and structure in a text file.
