Markus,

   After killing off the running process, I ran refdb-init.sh as root. It
failed:

Checking for the status of the application server control script.
You need to have the permissions to run this script in order to set up
RefDB with all the bells and whistles. If this test fails, you are most
likely not running as root.

refdbctl is not executable

refdbd-init.sh failed.
refdb-init.sh is finished.

   However, /usr/local/bin/refdbctl has perms 0755 and is owned by root.
