This one is definitely going to hang. If you don't provide an argument, refdbc
will attempt to read a query string from stdin, which makes you think RefDB
hangs.

But these should of course work ok. If they don't, there is something wrong.

This is the only weird thing I've found in your config. dbsport should not be
empty. Did you remove the correct value (3306) manually, or did the build
system fail somehow to provide the correct value? I don't think this explains
your getref failures, but I'd be surprised if this won't screw up things
eventually.

Your configuration does look ok otherwise, so I'm at a loss what is going wrong
here. Has anyone else seen similar failures before? Specifically when using a
Linux SMP kernel?

The only additional debug info that you could provide is if you run both refdbc
and refdbd with log level 7. Does the client provide any additional information
if you run getref?

If this does not get us any further, is there a chance to provide a ssh login on
your box? A regular user account is all I'd need to have a closer look using
gdb.

regards,
Markus
