Don't worry. This happened to me dozens of times. It is often hard to think of
it, but we should make it a habit to copy the original error message to the
scratch buffer (or to a temporary buffer in vim) before we attempt to fix or
investigate problems ourselves. If we find out it was a pilot error, just hit
delete. If it's a real bug, you have something to show off to the maintainer
(or to rub it in his face, depending on your temper :-).
