MySQL v. PostgreSQL

Hallöchen!

Until today, I used MySQL.  Normally it doesn't matter much whether
you use MySQL or PostgreSQL, so six months ago, I chose the one with
the bigger community.

However, yesterday I made my Python client Unicode-proof and found
out that MySQL has significant trouble with non-ASCII characters in
regexps, see <http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=30241>.  In my
opinion this is critical for RefDB applications because it means
that queries like ":AU:~Müller" will always fail.
