I agree that this would be a better approach, though I would make life still simpler by using bibl rather than biblStruct

until now, I haven't dealt with that issue, but to a first analysis I
would encode your example in the following way:

       <sourceDesc>
         <biblStruct>
           <monogr>
                 ...
             <edition>First edition, <measure type="printRun"
unit="copy" quantity="300">total number of copies 300</measure></edition>
             <imprint>
               ...
               <biblScope unit="copy">n. 192</biblScope>
             </imprint>
           </monogr>
         </biblStruct>
       </sourceDesc>
