I may have misunderstood what Martin Mueller was asking for; certainly
I misunderstood what Lou was seeking to provide. =20

I think it is sometimes useful, after a complicated technical =
discussion, to
know both what the bottom-line take-home conclusions are, and how they
were reached. (That is, not just =E2=80=9CDo X=E2=80=9D but some record =
of why one
thinks that X is the right thing to do.) Not everyone will be
interested in the latter, but it=E2=80=99s important when, a few years =
later,
someone asks =E2=80=9Cwhy on earth do you recommend doing X instead of =
Y?=E2=80=9D.
