TXM 0.8.0

Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the availability of TXM version 0.8.0:
http://textometrie.ens-lyon.fr/files/software/TXM/0.8.0.
To install this version, you must download and then run its
installation software.

In addition to fixing many bugs, this new version includes some notable
new elements:

Improved installation

-=A0=A0 TXM is now installed in a directory dedicated to its version. This
 =A0=A0=A0 makes it possible to use different versions of TXM at the same t=
ime,
 =A0=A0=A0 for example TXM 0.7.9 and TXM 0.8.0;
-=A0=A0 it is no longer necessary to painstakingly install TreeTagger
 =A0=A0=A0 yourself then link to TXM: two new TXM extensions now allow you =
to
 =A0=A0=A0 download and install in a few clicks both TreeTagger and two def=
ault
 =A0=A0=A0 language models (en and fr).

Improved user session

-=A0=A0 all calculation results can now be kept between two TXM sessions,
 =A0=A0=A0 either on demand (default operating mode) or systematically;
-=A0=A0 all commands now include the setting of all their parameters from
 =A0=A0=A0 the results window in a dedicated area. This makes it much easie=
r to
 =A0=A0=A0 refine the results. For example, you can easily adjust the queri=
es
 =A0=A0=A0 to use or the structure to display in a Progression, without hav=
ing
 =A0=A0=A0 to relaunch the command and enter all its parameters.
 =A0=A0=A0 Consequences :
 =A0=A0=A0 -=A0=A0 for most commands, you must first specify one or two man=
datory
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 parameters in the dedicated area before you can obta=
in a result
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 by pressing the Calculate button in the results wind=
ow;
 =A0=A0=A0 -=A0=A0 the re-calculation of a result causes the re-calculation=
 of all
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 the results which depend on it (its descendants in t=
he Corpus
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 view): for example, recalculating a lexical table re=
calculates
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 the tables of specificities or the AFCs built from i=

 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 parameters of the command is modified;
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 -=A0=A0 TXM > User > Backup all default results (per=
sistence): all
 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 new results are kept between TXM session=
s;

-=A0=A0 a result can be cloned, with or without its descendants, for example
 =A0=A0=A0 to compare variants of calculations;
-=A0=A0 graphic display variants (font type or font size, background color,
 =A0=A0=A0 etc.) can be adjusted directly from the results window in a
 =A0=A0=A0 dedicated toolbar;

Improved annotation tools

-=A0=A0 You can now correct or add simple word properties from a
 =A0=A0=A0 concordance, such as TreeTagger's "enpos" and "enlemma" properti=
es.
 =A0=A0=A0 This annotation mode has been added to the initial annotation mo=
des
 =A0=A0=A0 of word sequences;

Improved import

-=A0=A0 the metadata file "metadata.*" can now be read either in .ods
 =A0=A0=A0 (LibreOffice Calc), .xlsx (MS Excel) or .csv format;
-=A0=A0 the import and the loading of corpora are faster because TXM does
 =A0=A0=A0 not restart the engines during these treatments anymore.

The new version of the TXM manual for this version 0.8 is being
finalized. We will announce its availability soon on the list.
