Andreas Tille commented on BATIK-1239:
--------------------------------------
Thanks for the quick response and the hint to add batik-constants.jar to the classpath.
As you can read in one comment of the [Debian bug log|https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=907559#17] it makes sense to find out the motivation to split out batik-constants from the main batik package which is quite modularised in itself and thus the split might be temporary or not. From a Debian point of view it is not simply adding a jar to the classpath since to fix the bug in Debian we need to create a new package. Before doing so it makes sense to find out the motivation and future plans.
Kind regards, Andreas.

> Hi,
> I'm facing a problem in Debian with a package that is using Batik that does not explicitly contain XMLConstants but fails to start anyway. The issue is discussed in the according [bug report|https://bugs.debian.org/907559] and the suggestion was to contact Batik authors whether there is a hint how to deal with the issue.
> Kind regards, Andreas.
