Batik and Pantone

Hello

With interest I read
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-svg/2010Jun/0147.html where the
idea of adding named colors (e.g. Pantone) (without profile) to SVG was
considered.

I assume the person asking the question(s) was thinking of implementing
something in Batik (based on the author's name :)  and the messages).

My question - did this go anywhere? Is it possible to create PDF's (with
spot/Pantone colors from SVG using Batik)

All tips or pointers warmly welcomed
