In the following code, if the target string variable contains a space, the name
of the file produced will contain "%20" (percent twenty) instead of a space. 
I'm using jdk1.5.0_06.  This was originally reported under FOP
(http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=39030).

TransformerFactory factory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
        Transformer transformer = factory.newTransformer();
        transformer.transform(
                new javax.xml.transform.dom.DOMSource(doc),
                new javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamResult(new File(target)));
