How to read xml using Jelly script

Hi,

I am using the below code to retrieve xml node value. Its not working. 
Please help me.

<gel:include select="$loadContent"/>
<gel:set var="abc" select="$loadContent/XOGOutput/Status/@state" 
asString="true"/>
<gel:out>XML out: ${abc}</gel:out>
