Migrating a web app from an old version of eXist

Hi,

     I have a web app that I have been asked to bring up to 6.3.0. Currently, the web app is running on 4.1 and is a set of files directories located in /usr/local/eXist/webapp. Can I just migrate this over to 6.3.0 as is or do I need to package it up into a .xar file?
