Parsing copyright symbol

Hello!

I've a trouble with eXpat2.0.1. I'm sure my question is stupid, but I need 
the answer :) So, I ask you to help.

The problem is to read/write a copyright symbol (code 0xae) from/to xml 
file. I tried to use CDATA section, but it wasn't helpful. XmlContentTok() 
returns XML_TOK_INVALID.

Should I use utf16 instead of utf8? But UTF16 is not desirable for me... May 
be some extra defines or handlers?
