Forrest's configuration for PDF generation seems to use default fonts that do not have CJK characters. The Forrest site describes using the open-source Dejavu font family as a way of generating such multilingual PDFs. Since the Dejavu license has been ruled by Apache Legal as being compatible with the Apache License, it seems like a natural step to generate PDFs in Forrest using the Dejavu font by default, saving CJK users a significant amount of work in order to use Forrest.
