The problem with the need to update manually references is due to WinWord, not 
to Jfor : winword does not automatically update references. So you have to do 
it while opening an RTF document.
You can easily do it by pressing   << Ctrl >>  +  << a >>   and then  << F9 >>.
Another solution consist on doing a print preview : winword will automatically 
update all references. But there is still a problem : winword is not as smart 
as it could be because it does not update references in header / footer ... So 
you will have to update them after having updated all references by the method 
you chose !!
